Jilted Bride: Marrying The Biker King
Chapter 1

Kendal POV: "Jayson's little prize," someone slurred, sloshing cheap beer over his knuckles. I forced a tight, plastic smile. The annual Serpents of Redemption MC rally was a deafening storm of grinding metal, stale exhaust, and rank sweat. As the fiancée of an Iron Lizard, I was walking on enemy territory. Property on display. My phone gave a sharp, persistent buzz in my back pocket. I ignored it. Probably another reminder from the diner about covering the midnight shift. Every extra dollar was a nail in the coffin of my past, a step closer to getting out from under my adoptive parents' thumb. The suffocating press of leather and testosterone closed in. I needed air. I turned toward the makeshift bar. Buzz. Annoyed, I slid the phone out. Unknown number. An MMS. I tapped the screen. The world stopped. The thunder of the speakers, the roaring Harleys, the drunken brawling-everything went dead, muted underwater. My chest caved in. It was Jayson. My Jayson. The man who had sworn on his club patch that I was his only one. He had a blonde pinned hard against the damp drywall of a back stockroom. One heavy hand was shoved down the front of her leather pants, his hips hammering into her in a filthy, desperate rhythm. In the bottom corner of the image, the surveillance timestamp glowed: 9:13 PM. My wrist watch read 9:15 PM. A second photo downloaded. A tight close-up. Brandi Hicks. The club groupie who wore next to nothing and laughed too loud. Her head was thrown back, mouth open in a wrecked moan, her knuckles white as she gripped Jayson's belt buckle like she was terrified he'd pull out. I didn't cry. I didn't scream. A dry, hollow laugh scraped my throat. This? This was what he traded three years of my loyalty for? A dirty stockroom wall and a woman who couldn't spell his last name? It wasn't heartbreak slicing through me-it was disgust. Searing, acidic self-loathing for ever believing he was worth keeping. "Baby, I've been looking all over for you." Jayson's voice cut through my haze. He swaggered toward me, holding two plastic cups of draft beer, that golden-boy smirk plastered on his face. The same mouth that had been all over her skin two minutes ago. Nausea flared, hot and violent, straight up my spine. "What's wrong?" he asked, reaching for my waist. I stepped back, dodging his touch like he was coated in poison. His smile twitched. Without a word, I turned on my heel and walked straight toward the wooden stage in the center of the fairgrounds. "Kendal? Where are you going?" he barked behind me. I ignored him. I climbed the splintered steps, brushed past the startled rhythm guitarist, and yanked the microphone off its stand. A high-pitched squeal of feedback tore through the amps. The entire rally froze. Hundreds of bikers-including the heavy hitters up front wearing the three-piece Serpents of Redemption patch-turned their heads. Every eye locked on me. "Sorry to kill the buzz, boys," I said. My voice was pure, chilling steel. It startled even me. "I just have one small announcement to make." Jayson's face paled as he started shoving through the crowd. "Kendal! Get down from there!" "Jayson Trujillo," I said, locking eyes with him as the color drained from his skin. "You came over here looking for me. But I think your time is better spent back in the stockroom with Brandi Hicks." A collective gasp swept through the yard, followed by sharp snickers. "After all," I paused, letting the silence bleed, "you were working so hard inside her pants two minutes ago, you probably need that cold beer to keep your dick from catching fire." Raucous laughter and crude whistles exploded across the field. Jayson went from sheet-white to a suffocating, violent purple. His jaw worked like a hooked fish, nothing coming out. Slowly, deliberately, I raised my left hand. I slid off the diamond engagement ring he'd bragged about buying with three months of club earnings. "So, consider this official," I said, every word hitting like a hollow-point round. "We're done." I flicked my wrist. The ring bounced off the wooden stage with a faint, pathetic clink. "Keep it, Jayson. Save it for the next whore willing to swallow your scraps." I shoved the mic back into the guitarist's chest, turned, and walked off the platform. The crowd parted like black leather waves before the Red Sea. No one spoke. No one reached out. I pushed through the chain-link gates, hit the gravel road, and let the pitch-black night swallow me whole.

Chapter 2

Kendal POV: The gravel dug viciously into my bare soles. I'd kicked off my cheap heels a half-mile back, and now every step felt like dragging skin across broken glass. My breath came out in ragged, cold gasps. Headlights violently tore through the dark behind me. Tires screeched on the shoulder. An engine died. "Kendal! Are you out of your goddamn mind?" Jayson slammed his car door, stumbling forward, his handsome face warped with humiliating rage. "Do you have any idea what you just did to me back there? In front of the Serpents? In front of my brothers?" "I know exactly what I did." He lunged, grabbing for my wrist. I didn't flinch. I whipped my arm back, wound up, and cracked my open palm across his cheek. SLAP. The crack rang out like a gunshot in the empty night. His head jerked violently to the side, a crimson handprint flaring instantly against his skin. "That's for your dick," I hissed. "Since it clearly lacks a leash." He froze, clutching his face, eyes wild. "It didn't mean anything! I was drunk, Kendal, please-just let me explain! I love you!" A bitter laugh tore from my throat. "You don't know what love is, Jayson. Your love is a stray dog pissing on every fire hydrant it passes. You see an open hole and you crawl into it-and you call that love?" He stepped toward me again, hands out. I didn't wait. I drove the heel of my foot straight into his knee cap. Bone cracked against bone. Jayson went down with a guttural grunt, slamming onto both hands and knees in the dirt, clutching his leg like a pathetic dog begging for scraps. "Don't you ever touch me again," I whispered, leaning down. "The thought of your hands on me makes me want to scrape off my own skin. Go back to Brandi. She looked real hungry for your leftovers." I turned and walked away into the dark. Behind me, his high beams projected my shadow long and fractured across the asphalt. He screamed my name. He swore. He begged. I kept walking until the lights vanished and my lungs burned. Empty highway. Zero cell service. No money. Nowhere to go. Everything I had planned for the last three years-erased in fifteen minutes. Then the earth began to shake. A low, subterranean rumble vibrated through the soles of my feet. Not a car. The heavy, thunderous roar of an iron beast. A single headlight pierced the darkness ahead. A massive, blackout Harley-Davidson decelerated, gliding to a halt directly in front of me. The paint was matte black; the chrome gleamed like wet blood in the moonlight. The man astride the machine was built like a brick fortress. Heavy leather cut. Across the back: a crowned serpent coiled around a dagger. Serpents of Redemption MC. And below it: PRESIDENT. He pulled off his helmet. Sharp, aristocratic cheekbones framed by a brutal jawline. Cold, bottomless blue eyes that looked right through skin and bone. Braxton "Brute" Wood. The King of the Serpents. The apex predator of the entire county. He had been sitting front row at the rally, watching my little stage show with those unnerving, calculating eyes. "Need a ride?" His voice was gravel dragged over velvet. My guard snapped up instantly. "I don't get on bikes with 1%ers." A ghost of a smirk touched his mouth. "That Lizard boy didn't deserve a show like that." There was no mockery in his voice. Just cold, dark appreciation. "Get on," he ordered. It wasn't an invitation. "I can walk." He didn't argue. He swung a long, denim-clad leg over the tank and stepped off the bike. Up close, his size was suffocating. Broad shoulders blocking out the stars, smelling of raw leather, gasoline, and expensive tobacco. Before I could back away, his hands caught my waist. A sharp gasp hitched in my throat as he hoisted me off the dirt effortlessly, tucking me against his chest like a ragdoll. His torso was solid iron. He set me onto the rear leather seat, took his own matte helmet, and shoved it over my head, clicking the strap beneath my jaw with clinical precision. "Hold on," he commanded, throwing his leg back over. The monster flared to life. The exhaust rattled my teeth. Panic overtook pride; my arms whipped around his waist, fingers clutching the front of his cut. Braxton dropped the clutch. The Harley launched into the night like an artillery shell, tearing the wind to ribbons. In the tiny chrome mirror, I caught a glimpse of his eyes. Cold. Victorious. I had just run from a dog straight into the jaws of a wolf.

Chapter 3

Kendal POV: Braxton didn't haul me back to the Serpents' fortified compound that night. Instead, the motorcycle rumbled to a halt outside an unassuming, neon-lit motel on the outskirts of town. He paid the night manager in cash, shoved a plastic room key into my cold fingers, and leaned down until his breath stirred the hair near my temple. "Lock the deadbolt," he ordered, his low baritone vibrating in the quiet lot. "Don't leave the room. I'll come for you in the morning." Before I could demand an explanation, he kicked the stand up, twisted the throttle, and vanished into the fog, leaving only the scent of burnt fuel behind. At seven o'clock sharp the next morning, three measured raps sounded against the wooden door. I opened it a crack. Standing on the exterior walkway was a sharp-eyed man in a charcoal wool suit, adjusting silver-rimmed spectacles. He carried a large designer shopping bag. "Logan Price," he introduced himself crisply. "Mr. Wood dispatched me." He stepped inside just far enough to place the bag on the unmade bed. Inside lay tailored denim, an ivory cashmere sweater, leather boots that matched my size to the millimeter, and a brand-new, unboxed smartphone. "Mr. Wood requests that you dial him the moment you are dressed," Logan added, before turning and waiting outside on the balcony. My hands shook slightly as I pulled on the clothes. The fabric was luxurious, entirely foreign against my skin. I picked up the phone, powered it on, and tapped the only contact in the directory. "Go to Jayson's house," Braxton answered the second the line connected, skipping all pleasantries. "Speak directly to his mother. Cut the cord before they attempt to spin this as a lovers' spat." I understood immediately. Marlene Trujillo was the matriarchal spine of the Iron Lizards. As long as she considered our breakup a temporary squabble, Jayson would hunt me, harass me, and drag me back into his orbit to salvage his wounded ego. "Logan is waiting downstairs with a bike," Braxton finished, and clicked off. Twenty minutes later, Logan dropped me in front of the Trujillo estate-a sprawling suburban mansion paid for with club kickbacks. Maria, the longtime maid, opened the door with wide, anxious eyes and directed me into the formal sitting room. Marlene Trujillo was pacing the hardwood, her designer heels clicking like rapid gunshots. "You ungrateful little gutter rat!" Marlene shrieked the second she saw me, her manicured finger thrusting toward my face. "You disgraced our family in front of every charter in the state! You turned the Iron Lizards into a laughingstock!" "Your son unzipped his pants in a public hallway, Mrs. Trujillo. Not me." I reached into my pocket, pulled out my old phone, and tapped the display awake. "Here's Jayson with his hands down Brandi's trousers," I said, flipping to the next image. "And here's her mouth on his throat. Should I email these to the local press, or would you like to approve the headline first?" Marlene's face lost every ounce of color. She stumbled back, clutching the velvet armrest of her settee to keep from collapsing. "You... you spiteful bitch," she gasped, her knuckles white. "What do you want?" "A public press release," I replied, my voice hard as marble. "Issued through the official Iron Lizards MC media account. An announcement stating that Jayson Trujillo and Kendal Jennings have mutually and permanently dissolved their engagement due to irreconcilable differences. No claims. No retaliation. Total severance." "If we post that, the club looks compromised-" "If you don't," I leaned down, lowering my pitch, "the entire state gets to see your precious son's anatomy plastered across every billboard from here to Chicago." Her jaw trembled with impotent fury. "Fine. But you delete the files the second it goes live." "The moment it's posted, they're gone." Fifteen minutes later, the chime on my new phone signaled a notification. The Iron Lizards MC verified page had published the formal notice. I took a screenshot, posted it to my personal feed, and added a short caption: Goodbye, Jayson. Give Brandi my best-she seemed very fond of your scraps. I walked out the front door, inhaling the crisp morning breeze. Down at the curb, Logan was straddling his motorcycle, holding out an iPad. An incoming video stream was already ringing. I accepted the call. Braxton's face filled the screen, framed by the industrial steel and chrome of the club's private garage. "Clean execution," he murmured, his dark eyes locking onto mine through the lens. "Now. Let's discuss my compensation. And my terms."
