THE UNDERWORLD PRINCESS MARRIED TO THE HEAVEN'S HEIR
Chapter 1 THE CHILD THEY COULD NOT FIND

"Your Majesty, they have breached the eastern gates!" The servant cried before an explosion shook the palace. The Underworld king rose from his throne. "Where is my daughter?" he demanded. The servant lowered his head. "In the chamber, Your Majesty. The guards are fighting to protect her, but they are falling. They cannot hold longer." "Then we have no more time. Take me to her," the king ordered, drawing his sword. Another explosion shattered the windows as screams filled the corridors. He had spent years building peace between the realms, believing no kingdom should live in fear. Yet tonight, peace was buried beneath screams. The doors flew open and his commander stumbled inside, blood staining his armor. "Your Majesty, the usurper's men are everywhere. They search for the princess. You must flee now!" The king's expression hardened. "I will not flee. Take me to my daughter immediately." He reached the chamber as a young servant hurried out, clutching a crying infant. The king stopped. His daughter was barely old enough to recognize his face, her tiny fingers curled around the servant's collar. For a terrible moment, he forgot the battle. He touched her cheek. "My little girl..." She quieted at his voice. He swallowed pain and turned to the servant. "Listen carefully. You must take her away. You will take my daughter to the King of Earth. Tell him I sent you. Tell him the child must live." The servant stared. "Your Majesty? Me? Why me?" "Because I trust you completely," he said. "Tell him she must live no matter what happens to me tonight." "Please, Your Majesty, come with us!" she begged. "I cannot abandon my people," he said. "You will die if you stay!" she cried. A faint, sorrowful smile touched his lips. "Perhaps. But if I leave, my people will die believing their king ran. I cannot allow that shame." He placed a small silver pendant around the infant's neck. "Keep this hidden. Do not allow anyone to take it from her. Guard it with your life." "I swear on my life, Your Majesty," she trembled. Keep her alive," he said firmly. He kissed his daughter's forehead. "Forgive me, little one. Your father failed to give you the world you deserved." The baby cried again. The king closed his eyes and stepped away. "Go! Now! Do not stop!" The servant fled through a narrow passage as the king turned toward approaching soldiers. He did not look back. By the time the usurper entered the throne room, the former king stood alone, sword in hand. "You could have surrendered," the usurper said, sweeping the ruined hall. "You could have saved yourself and lived." "And hand my kingdom to a murderer?" the king spat. "I may lose my throne tonight, but I will never become the monster you are." The usurper's face twisted. "Then die with your foolish honor." Steel clashed against steel. The former king fought fiercely, but enemies overwhelmed his guards. A blade struck his side. Another knocked his sword away. He fell to one knee. The usurper approached. "Where is the child? Tell me where she is!" he demanded. The king lifted his head, blood running down his temple. "You will never find her. Never." The usurper's eyes darkened. He raised his sword. The king thought of his daughter one last time. Then the blade fell. By dawn, the servant reached Earth. She stumbled into the royal palace, exhausted, infant wrapped beneath her cloak. The King of Earth recognized the pendant before she finished explaining. "My friend is dead?" he whispered. "Is it true?" The servant bowed her head. "He stayed to fight, Your Majesty. He saved us with his courage." For a long moment, the king said nothing. Then he took the child into his arms. "What was her name?" he asked softly. "Aurelia, Your Majesty. Aurelia Veyra," she answered. He looked down at the sleeping infant. "Then Aurelia shall live. She shall be my own daughter forever." He raised her as his own daughter, concealing her birth from the world. Her powers were dangerous to reveal, and her survival could threaten the usurper's throne. Years later, when unusual abilities emerged, she was placed under Master's protection. The hidden chamber became her sanctuary, her training ground, and eventually the prison from which she longed to escape. Eighteen years passed, and the missing princess remained alive. "Aurelia! Again! Focus!" Master shouted. She barely raised her sword before he struck. Metal rang through the chamber. Aurelia stumbled backward, caught balance, and blocked. "Better," Master said. "Better? You nearly broke my wrist! Is this training or punishment?" She lowered her sword, breathing hard. "Your enemies will not care about your wrist. They will aim for your throat," Master replied coldly. "Perhaps my enemies could allow me breakfast first," she muttered. Master stared at her. "No excuses. Again. You are distracted." She smiled hopefully. "One piece of bread? Please?" "No. Raise your sword. Again," he ordered. Aurelia groaned. For eighteen years, she trained beneath his eyes, learning to fight and control strange power flickering beneath her skin, obeying rules that kept her existence secret. But she never learned how to stop wanting more. She wanted to see the world beyond the chamber, to know why she must hide, to understand why people who claimed to love her treated her as something to lock away. Before she could argue again, chamber doors opened. The Queen of the Earth stepped inside. "Aurelia," she called. Aurelia straightened immediately. "Mother? You rarely come here. Is something wrong?" "Come here, child," the queen said, taking her hands. "You are eighteen now. It is time for a new chapter. You have grown." Aurelia's heart lifted. "Does that mean I can finally leave? Can I see the world outside?" Her mother's expression faltered. "Not exactly. Not as you imagine, my dear." The excitement drained from Aurelia's face. "What do you mean? "The King has made an arrangement with another kingdom. You are to be married," the queen said gently. "It is for alliance and protection." For seconds, Aurelia could only stare. "Married? To whom Mother? "You will learn everything soon. For now, you must prepare. Trust us, we do this for you," her mother squeezed her hands. Aurelia stepped back, pulse racing. "For me? You decide my husband without asking me? I spent eighteen years obeying rules I never understood!" "I know it is hard, Aurelia," the queen said. "But there are responsibilities you cannot understand yet. You must trust us completely." "Then explain them! Why must I marry a stranger before I have even lived? Why can I not choose my own path?" Aurelia demanded, tears rising. Her mother sighed. "Because this marriage will keep you safe. Give him a chance to know you. Please try." Aurelia looked away, voice breaking. "What if I refuse? What if I say I will not marry him? What then? Will you force me?" Her mother's silence was answer enough. Aurelia looked toward chamber doors, toward freedom, and for the first time, she began to consider escape.

Chapter 2 THE HEIR WHO REFUSED LOVE

"I will not marry a woman I have never met. I will not bind my life to a stranger simply because it is convenient." Evander Celestian stood before his father, every muscle tense with fury, hands clenched tightly, voice echoing. His Majesty did not appear impressed. "You are the heir to Heaven's throne. Your personal wishes cannot always come before your kingdom. You were raised to understand duty, Evander. This is duty." "My personal wishes? You call this a personal wish?" Evander let out a humorless laugh. "You speak as though you are asking me to attend a banquet, not surrender my future to someone I have never seen." "I am asking you to fulfill your responsibility," His Majesty replied firmly. "And what happens when the woman I marry discovers her husband has no interest in her?" Evander demanded, eyes burning. His Majesty rose slowly. "Then you will learn to treat her with respect. You will honor her as your wife should be honored. Is that too much to ask?" Evander looked away, jaw tight. He had spent his entire life preparing to inherit the Heaven. He had mastered combat, studied laws governing realms, and learned to control powers that would overwhelm most beings. Yet none had taught him how to surrender his future to a stranger. "Who is she? he asked at last, voice quieter. "The daughter of the King of Earth. Her name is Aurelia Veyra. She has been hidden for protection," His Majesty said. Evander repeated the name silently. It meant nothing to him. "The kingdoms have reached an agreement. The marriage will strengthen our alliance and secure peace between Heaven and Earth. It is necessary," His Majesty continued. "And if I refuse? Evander challenged. "You will not. You know your duty too well to refuse," His Majesty said, raising his tone. Finally, Evander bowed stiffly. "As you wish, Father. I will marry her as commanded," he said bitterly. He turned to leave. "Evander." He paused at the doorway. "You will marry her with dignity. Whatever you feel privately, you will not humiliate your bride. Do you understand me?" His Majesty ordered. Evander did not answer and left. He left the throne room with knowledge that his future had already been decided without consent, that his heart had been traded for treaties. He was still walking through the palace courtyard when a familiar voice called after him, bright and hopeful. "Evander! Wait! Please wait!" He stopped reluctantly. Elara Evernight hurried toward him, silver ornaments catching light, cheeks flushed. The daughter of one of Heaven's most influential elders had never hidden her interest. She smiled as she approached. "I have been looking everywhere for you. Is it true? Has your wedding been arranged? Everyone is talking." "You have found me," he replied flatly. Her smile faltered at his cold tone. "I heard your wedding has finally been arranged. I wanted to be first to congratulate you," she said, moving closer, eyes searching his face. "News travels quickly," he muttered. "Of course. It is important news. I hope you know that I have always wanted what is best for you, Evander. I have cared for you for years," she said softly. Evander stepped away when she tried to touch him. "Then you should respect my space, Elara. I have told you before that I do not want this attention." Pain flashed across her face before she concealed it. "Must you always be so cold to me? Why do you push me away when I only care about you?" she asked, tears forming. "I have never promised you anything else. Do not imagine what is not there," he said, words sharp but honest. She watched him walk away, humiliation burning beneath her composed expression, hands trembling. One day, she promised herself, he would understand no woman could be more suitable than she was. And she would not allow an unfamiliar mortal princess to take the place she believed belonged to her without a fight. Far below Heaven, Aurelia stood before the entrance to the hidden chamber, staring at guards stationed outside, heart heavy with dread. Marriage! The word had followed her throughout the day, growing heavier each hour, echoing like a sentence. She did not want a husband chosen by strangers. She did not want to spend her life trapped inside another set of rules, another gilded cage. She wanted to breathe freely and choose her own path. She wanted to see the world beyond palace walls, to feel rain without permission. That night, she packed a small bag, fastened her sword to her waist, and waited until guards changed shifts. Then she ran. She crossed palace grounds silently, slipped through a narrow gate, and continued into unfamiliar territory where trees grew wild. She had heard warnings about the Red Realm, but fear of unknown was nothing compared with surrendering freedom. By the time she realized she had gone too far, sky had darkened. Voices sounded behind her. "There! She went that way! Find her! The princess escaped!" Aurelia's blood turned cold, panic surging. She ran between trees, clutching her bag as branches tore at sleeves. Ground grew uneven, and she nearly fell as she approached a rocky slope. Then she heard footsteps ahead, steady and calm. A man stood near the entrance of a cave, dressed in pale clothing that looked strangely out of place. He turned at her hurried breathing, his gaze sweeping over her disheveled appearance. "Are you being followed? Are you hurt?" he asked, voice low. Aurelia tried to answer, but voices behind grew louder. "Please, I need somewhere to hide. Please help me. They are chasing me," she whispered. The man studied her, then stepped aside. Stay behind me and do not make a sound," he instructed. She hurried into the cave just as several armed men emerged between trees. Their leader pointed toward the stranger. "You! Have you seen a girl pass this way? A runaway princess? Answer us!" The man's expression did not change. "What girl? I have seen no one tonight, he answered. "The runaway. She entered this territory illegally. She is property of Earth. Move aside. We will search the cave now," the leader growled. "And? Do you have permission to search here? This is not Earth. You have no authority," the stranger replied. The leader's eyes narrowed. "Move aside. We will search by force." The stranger's hand settled on the hilt of his sword. "I would advise you not to try. You will regret it. Turn back now." The men laughed. "You think you can stop us alone? You are outnumbered!" He drew his blade slowly, its edge gleaming faintly. "Would you like to find out how outnumbered you truly are? Step forward and learn," he said quietly. Aurelia watched from shadows, heart pounding so loudly she feared they would hear it. She had no idea who this man was. She only knew he had placed himself between her and danger without asking anything, and when first attacker lunged forward, the stranger moved with terrifying speed that stole her breath.

Chapter 3 THEIR FIRST MEETING

Aurelia had never seen anyone fight like him. The stranger moved as though he could predict every attack before it happened, his sword flashing beneath the moonlight, forcing the men to retreat with an effortless grace that left her breathless and trembling where she stood hidden. One attacker tried to approach him from behind while he was distracted forward. "Behind you! He is behind you!" Aurelia shouted, her voice breaking with fear, her hand flying to her mouth. The man turned without hesitation, as if he had already sensed the danger, and struck the attacker's weapon from his hand with a sharp, precise motion. Within moments, the remaining men backed away, breathing hard, their confidence shattered. "This is not over, we will return with more men and make you regret this," their leader warned, his voice trembling despite his attempt to sound threatening. The stranger lowered his sword calmly, his expression cold and unimpressed. "Then return when you have learned better manners and better swordsmanship. Tonight you are only wasting my time and testing my patience," he said coldly, his tone dismissive and final. The men disappeared among the trees, cursing under their breath, glancing back fearfully as they fled into the darkness. Aurelia slowly stepped out of the shadows, her legs shaking, her dress torn and dusty from running. "Thank you. You saved my life. The stranger wiped his blade carefully before returning it to its sheath, his movements deliberate and controlled. "You should be more careful about where you wander at night. The Red Realm is not a place for lost princesses who run without thinking of consequences," he said, his voice low but firm. "I did not wander. I was escaping. I chose to leave," she said, lifting her chin despite the fear still shaking her hands. Escaping from what? What could be worse than this wilderness at night?" he asked, studying her face closely. "It explains enough. It explains that I would rather risk death here than live caged and told whom to marry and where to live forever without choice," she answered, her eyes flashing with defiance and unshed tears. He looked at her as though he could not decide whether she was foolish or simply stubborn beyond reason. Do you even know the direction you are heading?" he asked, his tone edged with faint amusement but also with a concern he tried to hide. Somewhere I can breathe freely and choose my own future," she said confidently. Do you think freedom means being reckless with your own life?" he asked, his voice softer now, less harsh than before. "It seemed better than marrying a stranger chosen by my parents. "Go home, princess. The world outside is not kind to girls who romanticize escape. You will not survive out here with that innocence and hope you carry so openly," he said. "You sound exactly like everyone else. Do you all think I am just a child who knows nothing about life and cannot decide for herself," she replied, hurt visible in her eyes. She opened her mouth to argue, but he had already turned away, his cloak moving with the wind, ready to leave her alone again. "Wait! at least tell me your name. You saved me, I should know who you are and thank you properly," she called, stepping forward impulsively, not wanting him to vanish. He paused, his back to her, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "Names are unnecessary between strangers who will never meet again. Forget me, princess. It will be easier for you that way and safer for both of us," he said quietly. Then he walked away, leaving her standing outside the cave with a dozen questions and a heart behaving in a way she could not explain. She watched until he disappeared into the darkness. By morning, royal chariots had reached the outskirts of the Red Realm, their wheels creaking loudly on the rough road. Aurelia stood between two attendants, her hair tangled and her face smudged, while the Queen of Earth approached, her face pale with worry and sleeplessness from searching all night. "What were you thinking? Do you have any idea how terrified we were? You could have been killed out here alone without protection!" her mother demanded, her voice sharp with fear rather than anger. "I wanted to choose my own life, Mother. Just once. I wanted to make one decision for myself she whispered, tears threatening to fall. Do you think marriage is worse than death? Do you think we would give you to someone cruel who would hurt you? We love you," her mother cried. She reached out and pulled Aurelia into an embrace, holding her tightly as if she might vanish again. Far away, in the underworld, Darian Voss stood before his father, dressed in dark armor that gleamed under torchlight, his face composed but his eyes troubled with doubts he hid carefully behind a mask of obedience. He had inherited his father's height and commanding presence, but his expression was more controlled and observant. Where the Underworld king ruled through fear and intimidation, Darian preferred to observe before he acted, to understand before he struck, which made him different in ways that mattered. His father studied him with critical eyes that missed nothing. "Earth has refused our proposal. They have chosen defiance over wisdom and will pay the price for their arrogance," he announced coldly, his voice echoing in the hall. Darian frowned slightly, confusion flickering across his face. "What proposal Father? Darian asked carefully, trying to understand the reasoning behind a conflict that seemed unnecessary. "The agreement that would have prevented war. I offered them an opportunity to cooperate, to join us willingly, and their king rejected it outright without consideration," his father said. Darian hesitated, choosing his words with caution. "Father, if our objective is peace between the realms, why must we threaten Earth?" he asked, his voice quiet but firm. The king's expression hardened instantly, his eyes narrowing dangerously with displeasure at being questioned. Earth has forgotten the power of the Underworld. Its king believes he can stand against me and still protect his people. He is wrong and naive," his father said. "I intend to make an example of him so no other realm dares defy us again. That is how empires last eternally, through strength and fear that keeps others obedient," his father said, his smile cold and merciless. "Your orders, Father? What would you have me do for the kingdom?" he asked, bowing slightly in respect he still held despite his doubts. The king placed a heavy, possessive hand on his shoulder, gripping tightly. "When the full moon rises, you will lead our army into Earth. Break their defenses. Bring their king to his knees and make him beg for mercy he does not deserve," he commanded. Darian lowered his head, his heart heavy with a burden he did not want to carry into a war that felt unjust. "As you command, Father.
